How does the world capitals quiz work?

We name a country and show four cities. Tap the one you think is the capital. You get instant feedback, and after your round you see your score and how it compares to your personal best.

How many questions are in the quiz?

You can play a quick round of 10, a longer 20, a 50-question challenge, or the full marathon covering every country. By default the quiz draws from the whole Stampie catalog of countries and territories; flip on "UN-recognized only" to stick to the 195 UN-recognized countries.

What are the trickiest capitals?

The classic traps are countries whose most famous or biggest city is not actually the capital. There are around thirty of them in the quiz, and on hard difficulty the tempting wrong city appears right there in the options. No spoilers here — play a hard round and see how many fool you.

What about countries with more than one capital?

A few countries have several: South Africa has three (Pretoria, Cape Town, Bloemfontein), Bolivia has Sucre and La Paz, and the Netherlands has Amsterdam as capital with the government seated in The Hague. The quiz shows the primary, official capital as the correct answer.

Is the capitals quiz free?
